"A

I found some DELICIOUS blackberries at the store the other day… food dreams of making something tasty with blackberries in it have been in my head ever since!

But, how do you make delicious blackberries even better?

Add basil and tequila 🙂

Now that’s a party I could be down with. And ideally I’d be drinking this outside, in the sun, with some country music on in the background. But, if it’s snowing outside, don’t worry, I’ll drink it inside too 😉

You see, my husband and I really like margarita’s. That’s probably an understatement for my husband. I think he would like to live in Margaritaville permanently.

And sometimes… I get tired of them (gasp!). #sorrynotsorry

I guess I’m kind of a food snob, because I get tired of drinking or eating the same thing over and over. My favorites change constantly – I wanted a different flavor of birthday cake every year for my birthday growing up!

So, I went on a mission to find a margarita for both of us to get excited about by making these Blackberry Basil Margaritas.

""

Really though I have to give my husband some massive props here (thanks hon!) for this Blackberry Basil Margarita recipe.

When I started this food blog I told him that I wished I was married to someone who could help me with my website more (all the behind-the-scenes techie stuff!)… But, he’s my bearded mountain man and I wouldn’t have it any other way (awwwww!).

His idea? Hey, I can help, I can make all the alcoholic drinks!! That would be helpful right?

Well, hey, it’s not quite what I had in mind… but I’ll take it! My husband has a reputation for strong drinks around my family and friends, that don’t shy away from alcohol and simple syrup.

The alcoholic drinks I share on Mile High Mitts don’t always fit my vibe of trying to make things healthier, but they are something that we enjoy regularly enough in our house, so I figured they would be a fun thing to share from time to time!

These Blackberry Basil Margarita’s have that fruity, sugary, typical Margarita flavor, with blackberries and a light hint of basil, for a fun twist.

It’s like a mojito and a margarita combined. Is a mojarita a thing?? I think we just made it a thing… a delicious thing.

One thing to keep in mind: The amount of basil flavor you’ll get will depend on how strong and fresh your basil is, as well as how well it’s been muddled.

You’ll want to make sure you use nice, fresh basil leaves. And be sure to muddle (using a cocktail muddler) them well, or you won’t get much of a basil flavor in the background!

""

Try these margarita’s and let me know if you think my bearded mountain man had a good idea or not! 🙂
